. live from the cbs broadcast center in philadelphia. this is cbs "eyewitness news" at 11:00. there could be commuter chaos come tuesday t septa cars are taken off the tracks, rail riders are being warned to expect a rough ride to work. good evening i'm natasha brown, thanks so much for joining us. structural defects were found on more than 100 septa cars. now those cars are out of service. "eyewitness news" joe holden says rail riders need to prepare for what could possibly be a messy morning commute tuesday. >> reporter: we're talking about the silver liner five, it is a third of septa's entire rail fleet. at this point, septa is trying to figure out how it will address the issue. that involves not only getting the parts to correct it, but also finding the manpower hours to get it done's one thing is clear. tuesday's rush hour will be full of headaches. >> just after midnight friday,

septa officials say an inspector noticed a silver liner five rail car was leaning. the problem would be much more serious than first thought. cracks were discovered in the train's main suspension system. >> this is an all-hands on deck situation for septa. we understand the profound ways in which this will adversely affect our loyal riders. >> reporter: rare holiday weekend news conference, septa managers detailed their actions. they say all silver liner fives were taken out of service within 24 hours. the 120 silver liner cars make up about a third of septa's entire regional rail fleet. >> with 1/3rd of our fleet out of service, however, tuesday is the challenge. unfortunately, it will be rough on our railroad customers. >> reporter: 95 of 100 silver liner cars inspected were found to have some level of cracking in a part of the oh suspension system. we asked what the worst case scenario would be if the trains were left undressed. >> at high speed you could have

a derailment. >> reporter: we're told fixing them would be complicated of the transit authority is working with the train's manufacturer on a fix, which may not be completed until august. >> every rush hour train will be crowded. there are going to be passengers who are past by. >> reporter: matthew mitchell says septa riders should brace for significant disruptions come rush hour on tuesday morning. >> when you have to pull the entire fleet out of service and that fleet is 1/3rd, the a serious effect. >> reporter: come tuesday, septa will be offering on a modified saturday schedule, that was initially made and developed for emergencies and weather events. of course, out of all of this, septa is recommending that if you have another travel option to use it come tuesday. in the stat center, joel holden cbs "eyewitness news." >> septa says the silver liner five cars arrive between 2010

great to see. >> happy 4th of july to everybody out there. >> reporter: if you missed them they will be holding another free concert tomorrow on the ben franklin parkway. that's all a part of wawa welcome america. a fireworks show will follow. for now, we're live from independence hall, trang do cbs eyewitness. more fireworks are lighting up the sky across the region tonight. but wet weather is on the way. let's check in with lauren casey who's tracking this rain and when it's going to arrive. the grilling weather, the firework weather has been great so far but things get a little bit dicier as we head into the holiday. only 78 in philadelphia today. average high temperature for today's date 87. nowhere near that. warm spot 82 in lounge high temperatures in wildwood at 72 degrees. we've cooled off. of down into the mid to upper 60's along the coast. 67 in the lehigh valley. 50's in the poconos. 71 degrees right now in the city. stormscan 3 showing us precipitation that did impact parts of delaware. now moving well offshore. we still do have a dense high level cloud cover in place. and of course, everyone looking forward to fireworks if you haven't seen them already, fireworks display over the parkway tomorrow evening, we will see thunder showers developing right around that time frame, we'll talk more specifically about the timing of

the fireworks. summertime returning with a vengeance as we head into next week, all the details coming up. >> thank you. new details in the investigation into a deadly water craft accident in summer point new jersey. new jersey marine police say a father and young son were on a jet ask ski when they collided with or a jet ski yesterday. the father and son were killed. today, investigators revealed the boy was sitting closest to the jet ski's steering and controls and that is being looked at is a possible contributing factor in this crash. police say jet skis can be difficult to control for the inexperienced. 115 people were killed when a truck bomb exploded overnight in baghdad. at least 187 others were injured. cbs correspond wendy gillette reports, the suicide bomber targeted a busy shopping area just before the end of the muslim holiday ramadan. >> reporter: flames inside a shopping mall lit up a dark

baghdad neighborhood after a bomb in the back of a pickup truck exploded early sunday. the carnage was substantial. more than 100 dead, including at least 15 children, ten women and six police officers. almost 200 others were injured. hours later in daylight, crowds gathered to see the burned out building where most of the victims died. the suicide bombers struck just after midnight in a popular commercial area lined with stores and restaurants in the downtown area. this man says after the bomb went off, people couldn't recognize their relatives because they were engulfed in fire. >> pope francis offered prayers for the victims as well as for those killed and injured in the bangledash attack friday. the islamic state claimed responsibility for both and for an attack at istanbul's attack last week. this was the deadliest bombing in baghdad since last july.

a second car bomb exploded in north baghdad killing five and injures 16 others. police say a homemade firework likely caused a blast in new york city central park today. it seriously injured a man who stepped on to it. investigators don't believe the injured 19-year-old or his friends took part in constructing the explosive. they're asking anyone with information to please come forward. officials say the injured man is under going surgery on his left foot. the father of the little boy dragged into a lake by an alligator is speaking out and says two alligators were involved in the attack a plus dozens of fans injured at a kenny chester they concert in pennsylvania's others arrestedly we'll tell you what's happen. it's happened with the broadway hit hamilton. tickets are going for thousands of dollars. coming up machines that are stealing the show and how authorities are trying to crack down. . heavy rain is set to arrive

. back now on "eyewitness news," the father of a toddler killed by an alligator at disney last month told rescue officials two alligators were actually involved in the attack. a newly released e-mails, matt graves said he was attacked by a second alligator as he tried to reach his son after the boy was pulled into the water outside the grand floridian resort. the boy's body was later recovered in tact about 15 yards from the shore. fans of the country music star kenny chesney leave behind a big mess in pittsburgh. trash filled the parking lots after a kenny chesney concert last night. they ate, drank lots of alcohol and some got rowdy. several arrested. a police officer was injured

trying to break up a fight. 25 people were taken to the hospital and treated for dehydration. getting tickets to your favorite shows or concerts is not always easy. there's a reason it's harder than ever now for some fans. tickets may be sold out because of so-called ticket. correspond jamie ukiss has details on the machine that steal the show. ♪ . >> reporter: if you're looking for a ticket to broadway's hottest show. it's going to be hard to find and it's going to cost you plenty. >> for only $1945, that's the lowest price. >> reporter: it's not just hamilton, it can be next to impossible to get a ticket for popular concerts too. and tickets sell out at a furious rate. one reason is? you're not competing for tickets with humans. you're competing against computers called ticket bots.

tomorrow with the unveiling of a ridge allen mural at first district plaza. young musicians from around the country join the philadelphia orchestra for a special performance today. "eyewitness news" at the 23rd street arm ri in rittenhouse square. the 14 to 17-year-olds are part of the orchestra working with the philadelphia orchestra to fine-tune skills as part of a two-week intensive training program. they sound lovely. the weather has been lovely for the most part. >> the timing could be just in time for the fireworks. it's going to be a little bit dicey. if you're heading out to the fireworks. but it's been fairly dry so far. temperatures comfortable. humidity comfortable. can't ask for more than that. a live look at center city, high clouds in place, temperatures 71 degrees. got a break from having to run

the ac did. southerly west winds about eight miles an hour. checking in on our live neighborhood network, we saw rain showers. and down the shore, lewes about 800s of an inch. 67 in allentown, 65 in millville, hanging on to 70's in philadelphia. a little cool at the shore. 60's right now in stone harbor and 64 in cape may. due points have been on the lower side by july's standards over the last couple days, they're fairly low down into the 50's. they're starting to climb especially across the southern portion of the area, due points now into the upper 60's in dover. we'll keep things comfortable as we head into tonight. the humidity is really going to ramp up as we head to tuesdays and wednesday. keep windows open. great sleeping weather dropping back to 64. tomorrow high temperatures running below average, we should

be in the mid to upper 80's, tomorrow will top off at 80. sunshine early in the day then watching the timing of late day thunder showers developing. right now, all is quiet prescription wise on stormscan 3. still do have the high level clouds in place, pretty dense in their consist. rolling pretty quickly through parts of the midwest and this system is going to be impacting the delaware valley as we head late into tomorrow t best spot to celebrate the 4th of july will be in the poconos with mostly sunny conditions most of the day. high of 75. thunder showers developing at the shore, evening thunder showers in the city and surrounding counties. looks like a pretty good start. some sunshine to youred the lehigh valley, poconos cloud deck increases late day north and west on the city, do notice his area of prescription starting to encroach as we head to 5:00. this particular runs of this model, the latest one bringing the rain into center city philadelphia even about an hour earlier 10:00 is the time the fireworks go off.

you're going to have to have the rain gear as we head to the overnight period, rains become more widespread and heavy in intensity. a lot of moisture. the rain could come pouring down at times tomorrow night. we'll still see areas of rain lingering a few rumbles of thunder into tuesday morning. check out some of our future rainfall amounts. little bit of rain by the 10:00 hour across parts of the area. as we head to the overnight period, we'll see pockets of heavy rain fall and some places we could pick up over an inch of rainfall maybe approaching a half inch with this system tomorrow night. we could see a couple of stronger imbedded thunderstorms mainly across southern portions of the area. tomorrow we do have a marginal risk of severe weather across southern parts of delaware. forecast tomorrow, running above average once again topping off at 83 in allentown. 75 in wildwood. still feeling pretty good enjoy those cooler temperatures because the heat is on as we head to mid week climbing to 88

dominates the third straight weekend. according to studio estimates today, finding dory earned $41.9 million in north america. disney is forecastly a four-day holiday of 50 million bucks. tarzan, rounding out the top five punch. and independence day resurgence. nasa's close encounter with juniper only one day away.
